If you your aux electric fan works on high speed but not on low speed your resistor is likely burnt out.

There are two different resistors listed for e30 s the bosch ceramic and the magna plastic encased.

In reading all the posts on the two speed fan i ve learned that the only time the fan runs on the high speed is when the radiator high temperature switch.

Some e30s have a ceramic one by bosch other have a black metal one with cooling fins made by magna.
Bmw can supply the correct brackets to mount this fan without mods or drilling extra holes.
